Where to start...
I've been working six days a week, at an average of 11 hours a day. I'm getting overtime and mileage, so I really don't mind it so much. Marty noted that I seem happier at ths job than I have been in years, and he's right. I like the work, I don't mind the hours, and I get to be a Geek. Besides, I'm finally making more than what amounts to minimum wage for the hours I work, so it's a good thing all around.
New vehicle: got a Kia Sportage. I needed a larger ride for all of the gear I have to haul around, that got decent mileage, and was adaptable to either passenger or work usage. The 2002 Sportage ended up being too sweet a deal to pass up -- $9000 for a vehicle with 35k miles on it. I'll be able to make the payments easily, and this will go a LONG way to rebuilding my broke-ass credit.
I just dropped off six cases of water at the Salvation Army for refugees of Hurricane Katrina. More on that in a bit -- just got another call in. When I get notice that something's broken somewhere, I have to move. I'm kind of like an IT Superhero, except instead of a cape and a super-secret lair, I have a polo and the Swamp.
Other than my dead battery, I've had really good luck with my Kia Sorento.
Glad you're so busy and so happy. I know that you are really blessed right now.
p.s. I made a donation to the Hurricane Relief fund, but I still feel kind of helpless.
