All in all, it was a good day. Both of my new jobs paid me (not a lot, but enough to where I don't have to worry about where my next meal will come from), positive feedback was coming in from last night's aircheck session, and I was thinking that I might be turning the proverbial corner.
Then, as I was working my normal Friday shift at Volcano's, I felt this... pain. In my chest.
Specifically, it hurt just to the left of my sternum. And it hurt a bit. I have a somewhat high tolerance for pain, so when it started and ket hurting there, I was a little puzzled.
"Am I really feeling this? Is it a heart attack? If it's a heart attack, why am I so damned calm about it?"
I got some aspirin from the waitress, and plowed through the rest of the night. After I called him at work, Marty looked up what a heart attack causes, and only the numb left arm and the shapr pain matched up with what he found.
It's now three hours after I first felt the pain, and I'm still alive, so I think I'm okay. If the pain persists, I'll go to the doctor on Monday. Maybe when I moved the box with my new eMac for work into my new office, I tore a muscle under my ribcage. Or, maybe I'm insane.
Whatever happened, there was a good portion of time tonight when I wondered, "so, is this it?" And, if the answer was, "yeah, this is it, this is all," it wouldn't have been that bad.
