I got the call today that the Texas Rangers want me to sing the National Anthem.
They must have liked my audition, because I'm doing it during the first homestand in Arlington. It'll be on Monday, April 18, before the first game against the Oakland Athletics.
Honestly, between the feedback I got from Woody and other people, and the feeling I had after I finished, I thought I had a pretty good shot at making the cut. That said, I still was really pleasantly surprised that I made the grade.
I just hope I don't wind up needing Maurice Cheeks to help me out.

Mozzle Mozzle my good friend. Just remember that if you HAVE to scratch yourself during the anthem, baseball etiquette requires that you do it in a clockwise motion.

Sony videocamera at the ready....too bad I will probably be in the nosebleed section....and my cam doesn't zoom in far enough to pick up the nervous sweat that will most likely be pouring off of your face.
Per our conversation prior to your audition - - can you refresh my memory about where the "Devin's Ex-Girlfriends Row/Section/Level" will be located? Like I said, I am pretty sure we could pack the park with that contingent alone. Of course - none of us are allowed to have objects of significant mass capable of being hurled any distance.
Kidding...I think. You working on the 11th? I'll be at the Ballpark that day and figured I'd drop by and say HI if you were slaving away.

Wow, I'll be in Dallas visiting the family - but isn't April 16 a Saturday? This I've gotta see.
